The Drift South 2026/27 competition season is nearly here!
Road Rubber Drift Championship & Japrace Development Series classes.

Spectators – $20 at the gate to come watch the action. Cars on track from approx 10:30am to 5:00pm

Great day out at the final round of our first Winter Series.
Big thanks to Goodride Tyres NZ & Road Rubber Motorsport for helping make this possible.
Having everyone on the same Goodride rubber was a great leveller, cars of all levels were able to compete together easily.
Congratulations again to Shannon Hall for winning rounds 1 & 3, and the overall series title.
Zac Little with a 4th place in the final jumped up to 2nd overall & Isaac Carroll took the win in round 2 on the way to 3rd for the series.
Unlicky not to make the top 3 was Nicole Sherris only a single point behind.
Not long now until our main competition series kicks off on October 10th.

Introducing the Goodride Tyres NZ Winter Drift Series with Road Rubber Motorsport.
No one needs an off-season, we’re running drift comps all year round now!
3 Round series starting July
July 12 | August 9 | September 13
Battle competitions with a unique new format to get all drivers max battle numbers.
Event format designed for low budget competition, open to drivers of all levels.
Restricted size control tyres by Goodride to level the playing field.
Goodride G118 in 225/40 18, 225/45 17, 205/50 16 (RP68) & 195/50 15 only to keep things simple and even.
Hot deals on tyres and fitting by Road Rubber.

Layout that everyone can run without needing a big power car but still great fun for drivers and cars of all levels.
Forward and Reverse directions used through the season.
We’ve already got drivers keen with cars all the way from MX5’s to existing comp car’s. Suitable for a huge range of drivers and cars.
– Yes you will need a car with a full Motorsport spec roll cage, same car & gear requirement as regular Drift South comps.
– Motorsport NZ M Grade licence required (super easy to get)

About Us


Driftsouth has grown from a bunch of friends who enjoy modified cars to what it is today by no easy means. The road to being ‘accepted’ by MotorSport NZ and the racing community has been long and hard. But with the persistence and help of some keen drivers around the country and the likes of Kent & Ian Shrimpton – migrating from a racing family to Promotion and management team, Drifting within NZ is now recognised as an official class of motorsport. The first Drift South series began in July 2006. With huge support from the Canterbury Car Club, 5 drivers got together and formed the “Drift Committee”. The club backed the idea of the series and Drift South was born. Still part of the Canterbury Car Club championship, Drift South has developed into one of the most entertaining and enjoyable Motor racing series in the South Island
